Dental Implants
« on: November 12, 2015, 03:15:30 PM »

Anyone know anything about them? Price? Recommended a dental clinic?

I'm considering getting about 8 front upper teeth replaced.

I'd be happy to go to Thailand, but hubs says no.

They cost about $5-8000 at least each to get done in Australia.

A crown costs about $1800 and root canal about $700 - so you can see how much more an implant would cost.

There are dentists overseas with good reputations that do implants. Australian trained dentists. One is Bangkok public hospital  from memory.

You have to factor in airfares, accom and two trips.

I was reading about it - one guy said he paid $10,000 and saved about $5000... Not sure how many teeth he had done or if it was crowns, implants etc.

One of the health funds NIB, I think actually promote going overseas for implants.

If you have two teeth beside each other that need fixing,  one implant can support 1 - 2 teeth.

2 implants support 4 teeth

4 implants support  12 teeth

So that would cost less then. Still big $$ though for 8 teeth.

I'm budgeting $10k. I'm in the NIB so I'll look into that. I was looking up the web last night, some dental clinics offer hotel accommodation in their price.

Wouldn't you also have to consider follow up appointments and proximity to your implanter if something went wrong?

IF something went wrong, how would you pursue some person/company in Thailand for rectification or compensation?

Lots of people have had no problems with implants done in Asia or Philippines. Best recommendation would be from some other people who  have had dental implants oseas.

Dentists here like to spread that concern - won't be done properly, might have problems later...

Booked in at the Sea Smiles Dental clinic in Phuket, Patong Beach.

Booked and paid for my aifare.

Booked and paid for 2 weeks accommodation.

Haven't told hubs yet.
